Code of Conduct

A welcoming, inclusive, and safe convention for everyone.

Our Commitment

Starpass Summit is committed to being a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for all attendees, guests, staff, and volunteers. We have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, discrimination, or abusive behavior of any kind - both in-game and out. All attendees are expected to treat others with respect.

Expected Behavior

Every attendee should:

  • Treat others with respect, courtesy, and kindness
  • Respect personal space, boundaries, and pronouns
  • Ask consent before photographing or recording other attendees
  • Remember that deception in the game is a game mechanic - and lying ends at the table
  • Listen to staff, volunteers, and the venue's instructions
  • Look out for each other; if you see something, say something

Unacceptable Behavior

The following will not be tolerated:

  • Harassment, including offensive comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, race, ethnicity, age, religion, or body
  • Sexual language, imagery, or unwelcome advances
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
  • Sustained disruption of games, panels, or other events
  • Photography or recording when asked to stop, or in designated photography-free areas
  • Inappropriate physical contact
  • Bigoted or hateful jokes - even "ironically"
  • Using BotC roleplay or deception as cover for genuine cruelty

Reporting an Incident

If you experience or witness harassment, a safety concern, or any violation of this Code:

  • At the convention: find any staff or volunteer in a Starpass Summit shirt, or visit the registration desk
  • By message: reach us through the Contact page.
  • Anonymously: if you'd prefer to report without identifying yourself, note that in the message and we'll respect that

We will respond promptly, listen, and take you seriously. You will not be penalized for reporting in good faith.

Enforcement

Staff may take any action they deem appropriate - including warning the offender, removing them from a game or event, expelling them from the convention without refund, and banning them from future Starpass Summit events. Serious violations may also be reported to local authorities.

Quiet Space & Accessibility

A designated quiet space is available throughout the weekend for anyone who needs a break from the activity. For accessibility needs or accommodations, please reach out in advance - we want to help.

Acknowledgements

This Code of Conduct draws on the work of many tabletop and convention communities who came before us. Thank you for helping us make Starpass Summit a place where everyone can play, deceive, and belong.
